Anthropic has introduced Claude Science — a new AI-based research platform designed to help scientists manage complex research processes, analyze large datasets, and accelerate scientific discoveries.
The platform aims to unify databases, programming environments, computational tools, and literature analysis capabilities into a single integrated workspace specifically designed for scientific research.
According to the company, Claude Science allows researchers to perform the full cycle of scientific work in one environment, including academic literature analysis, data analysis, chart creation, and research manuscript drafting. The system also emphasizes traceability, allowing users to link results directly to the codebase, data sources, and computational environment used in each experiment.
The workstation comes with pre-installed access to more than 60 scientific databases and supports the display of specialized scientific results such as 3D protein structures, genome browser tracks, and chemical diagrams. Anthropic stated that the system is built on the existing Claude model family, which has undergone internal safety tests and biosecurity assessments as part of its responsible scaling system.
Early beta testers, including research institutions and companies, have reportedly noticed significant improvements in workflow efficiency, according to Anthropic. The company also framed the launch as part of a broader life sciences and healthcare initiative, development of which began in October 2025.
In addition to the software launch, Anthropic also announced that it is starting its own pre-clinical drug discovery programs, focusing on neglected diseases that may be insufficiently studied by traditional pharmaceutical and biotech companies. Eric Kuderer-Abrams, Head of Life Sciences at Anthropic, stated that these efforts target areas with high disease burden but limited commercial attention from traditional drug development processes.
