Nvidia on Monday unveiled a new category of personal computers specifically designed to run artificial intelligence 'agents,' marking a significant step toward bringing advanced AI capabilities directly to consumer devices. The announcement underscores the chipmaker's ambitions to extend its dominance in data center AI to the personal computer market.
The new laptops, powered by a redesigned generation of Nvidia's proprietary AI chips, are designed to deliver high-performance AI processing in a compact form factor. According to the company, the devices will be just 14 millimeters thick and, in some configurations, weigh less than three pounds, placing them among the lightest AI-focused laptops on the market.
To accelerate adoption, Nvidia is collaborating with six major hardware manufacturers, including Dell Technologies, Lenovo Group, Microsoft, HP, Asus, and MSI. These partnerships are expected to result in a broad lineup of devices tailored to various market segments, from enterprise users to AI developers and advanced consumers.
At the core of the new systems is the RTX Spark chip, which Nvidia describes as 'the most efficient PC chip ever created.' The processor is built on the company's GPU architecture and optimized for local AI task execution, reducing dependence on cloud computing while improving speed and data protection.
Nvidia indicated that the initial launch will quickly scale, with plans to introduce about 30 laptop models and around 10 desktop configurations equipped with the new chips.
