Honor has unveiled its latest innovation, the RobotPhone, a device that aims to blur the line between smartphones and robotics. The standout feature of the device is a concealed mechanical arm gimbal integrated directly into the phone body.
When not in use, the mechanism is neatly stored inside the device, but with a single activation, it extends outward, transforming the smartphone into a dynamic, motion-enabled shooting system.
The system supports 360-degree rotational tracking and fully automated composition, allowing the device to intelligently follow subjects and maintain optimal framing during movement. According to company specifications, the stabilization performance reaches CIPA 5.5-level standards, significantly improving image stability even in high-motion scenarios such as running or sports activities.
Honor also describes the RobotPhone as being powered by an advanced AI system that functions as its “brain,” enabling it to recognize its surroundings, understand user context, and interact with the environment in real time. The company claims the device can proactively assist users throughout daily life, capture meaningful moments automatically, and function as a highly responsive personal imaging assistant.
At the core of its software ecosystem is an on-device large language model known as YOYO, which is designed with emotional perception capabilities. It is said to offer personalized recommendations, provide contextual assistance, and coordinate across multiple connected devices within Honor’s broader ecosystem, effectively acting as a personal manager and creative companion.
Because of its integrated robotics and AI-driven imaging capabilities, the Honor RobotPhone has been widely described as the world’s first “robot smartphone,” marking a new experimental direction in mobile device design that merges intelligent photography, automation, and ambient computing.
